Unfortunately, sometimes the nerve in the tooth dies due to it sustaining an injury, or tooth decay, or where it has been heavily filled over time. If this is the case, the only option to save the tooth is to carry out root canal treatment.

Veneers are thin, porcelain facings that are applied to the outer surface of anterior teeth, to greatly improve their colour, shape and position. It is a straightforward process with outstanding aesthetic results.

A dental crown is a cover that is placed over a tooth to make the tooth stronger and improve the way it looks. Teeth that are heavily filled, discoloured, cracked, worn down or root filled, would generally benefit from having a crown.

A dental bridge is where a false tooth is placed into a gap in the mouth, using one, or both adjacent teeth. These neighbouring teeth will need to be strong enough to suuport the bridge. The bridge is usually made out of ceramic and the aesthetics are normally outstanding.

If a patient has a number of teeth missing, the most popular option to fill the gaps is to provide a denture. At Ayling & Associates Dental Practice, we generally provide two types of denture. A denture made out of acrylic is the conventional option. The newer option is a flexible denture which has proved to be incredibly comfortable, with outstanding aesthetics, as it is completely metal free.

Sports mouthguards essentially help to protect teeth from sports injuries. It is paramount that you wear these custom made appliances if you are involved in the following sports - rugby, football, hockey, boxing, skiing, baseball & cricket.
